The new year is a time to look ahead, but also a time to look at years past. Here's a photo of the BASWG annual cleanup event in 2019. It's a great example of how communities can come together to help. This new year, let's strive to do the same, if not more, for our #environment.

Public Works of Patten, Maine recently found high levels of #PFAS in one of its wells. This contamination is likely linked to plumbers tape since it's made with a carcinogen called PFOA. Read more about this new finding in the following article: bit.ly/3jAyA6a

Today, we celebrate the life and legacy of the great Martin Luther King Jr. Not only was he a pioneer for social justice, but he also helped to pave the way for environmental and climate activism as we know it, bringing healthy living environments to underprivileged communities.

Did you know? The majority of the world's fresh water supply is in ice and snow. ❄️ This weekend's #snowstorm is a clear example of this fact. Remember to stay safe and avoid travel during harsh weather periods. For more info, visit our website to browse winter resources.

Cover It Up! When your pool isn't in use, cover it with a pool cover. This not only helps retain heat, reduce contaminants, and reduce evaporation, but it also prevents stormwater from mixing with pool water and potentially carrying pool chemicals into our water sources. #PoolTip

Why do we worry about runoff and stormwater pollution? As stormwater flows over urban and suburban surfaces, it picks up pollutants such as litter, pesticides, oils, fertilizers, sediment, and bacteria, and transports it all into the local water system.
