One of the B17 SLT directors visited Sheffield and took a wooden saddle to our base at CTL Seal and fitted it to the frames to act as a mount for the smokebox wrapper delivered two week ago. 61673 is really coming together now 😀👍.RailAdvent

New steam engines, being built in Sheffield! This morning I went to an open day at CTL Seal in Ecclesfield to see the progress of two new steam locomotives being constructed there: Clan Class “Hengist” by THE 'CLAN' PROJECT - 72010 'HENGIST', and B17 “Spirit of Sandringham” by The B17 Steam Locomotive Trust 😎 #Sheffield

We are now looking forward to the next stage of construction starting with the cab. We are looking to raise £55,000 in stages as the graphic shows. Can you help us put a cab on 61673? b17steamloco.co.uk/how-to-help/do…

The Machining of 61673's Driving wheels are nearly complete with one side finished and the other to be done. The Crankpin holes are also done and measurements will be sent to Railway Wheelsets,so the plain axles can be completed,4 wheels will then be dispatched to Buckfastleigh.

61673's frames have now been primed and painted inside to protect them. (Note that any fittings to be attached the area will be cleaned carefully back to metal). But they look smart now in a gloss red finish😃👍.

The orders keep flowing! Yesterday we ordered the forgings for the crank axle from Somers Forge. We have now ordered every major component we need to complete the rolling chassis. Great news indeed 😃👍.RailAdvent

We are pleased to report that the manufacture of the Cab had been awarded to Leaky Finders in Devon. Today, we're pleased to report that the Smokebox Door has been delivered to Shildon, where it will be finished with all the holes needed for the hinges, dart etc.

The good news keeps coming. Shown here is the smokebox ring and seal groove, before being drilled and finish machined. So we now have the wrapper (cylinder), door and now the part that is inbetween these two. Now all we need is the door hinges, dart and locking bar👍.
