The Australian High Commission was honoured to join Cook Islands’ National Memorial Service for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II today. Australia and Cook Islands have shared in Her Majesty’s long and historic reign. Together, we remember her life of service. Te Atua te Aroa.

The Australian High Commission’s Ruth Baird enjoyed meeting Cook Islands Sports and National Olympic Committee’s Owen Lewis and Hugh Graham. They discussed the colour and culture of the Cook Islands Games underway and how Australians and Cook Islanders share a love of sport!

Delighted to be in Cook Islands to sign the 'Oa Tumanava Cook Islands Australia Bilateral Partnership Arrangement with PM Mark Brown. 'Oa Tumanava means enduring friendship - through good times and adversity. It signals our ambition for a new era of deepened cooperation.

Wonderful to spend time with Sir Tom & Lady Marsters, along with a diverse group of Cook Islands’ community leaders. Appreciated the opportunity to learn about their work supporting Cook Islands' future - from tourism and marine conservation to education and healthcare.

Great to see the progress being made on the upgrade to the Cook Islands' Maritime Surveillance Centre, with Australia’s assistance. The Centre will support the crew of the Guardian-class patrol boat Te Kukupa II, and their important work patrolling Cook Islands' waters.

I was impressed to see the work being done at the Cook Islands Oceans Monitoring Centre, and the upgrades to the Aitutaki Marine Research Centre. With its vast Exclusive Economic Zone, this work is crucial to Cook Islands' economy, safety and security.

At COP27, Australia’s Minister for International Development and the Pacific Pat Conroy was joined by Pacific Leaders, including Prime Minister of Cook Islands Mark Brown, in calling for action to reach the Paris Agreement commitment of limiting global warming to 1.5 degrees C.

11.11.22 The Australian High Commission was honoured to join the Remembrance Service on Armistice Day at the Returned and Services Association Cook Islands and lay a wreath in tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice. Lest we forget.
