A short while ago, it would have been unthinkable in Europe that the US White House would sink to this level of imbecility. How can half of this once great, intelligent, and world leading republic be ok with this?

Tesla's brand damage is real and severe. The sales slump can no longer be attributed to the model Y switchover: - Jan - April sales in Europe are down 37%, even as the market grew by 28%. - US April Tesla registrations are down 17%, while the market as a whole is up 14%.

China is winning the race to Type 1 Civilization and we're not even aware it's happening. By 2030, China will have the manufacturing capacity to build an entire U.S. worth of generation from solar and storage alone - every single year. The flow of energy is what drives physical

WHERE IS THE ACTION ON #METHANE? The lowest hanging fruit is going rotten๐Ÿ This IEA report hits hard๐Ÿ‘Š "Energy-related #methane emissions have still not reached a definitive peak. Many actors have set targets for lowering methane emissions by 2030. Yet so far, few countries or

People greatly overestimate the cost of dispatchable generating capacity. Open cycle engines are cheap. The expensive part is running them. The vast majority of the value of a nuclear power plant comes from fuel savings - NOT capacity. Thatโ€™s why we donโ€™t build nuclear

I'm basically an optimist, but I find it hard to argue against two claims: a) Screens/social media makes it easier to not pay attention in school b) GenAI makes it easier to cheat in school The combination of (a) + (b) is going to be a huge challenge for young ppl's education.

Don't worry too much about creating climate problems by using ChatGPT. The graph shows avoided CO2 emissions of reducing your AI use by 50.000 questions per year (136 a day) compared to other things you should rather be doing for the planet, because they have much higher impact!

Q: How much did #CCUS capacity grow in 2024? A: 1%๐Ÿ˜ฒ๐Ÿ˜ฒ๐Ÿ˜ฒ Yes, there's lots of exciting CCUS developments happening - including many projects in construction. Many clean techs are capable of delivering #exponentialgrowth. CCUS is unlikely to be one of those๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Solar panels on grassland reduce grassland production. It is true. But... they also produce over 100x more energy per hectare than grassland. So eating 1% less meat (90% of grassland if for meat) creates more room than the rest of your energy needs met with solar panels.

AukeHoekstra Still though, we should prioritize roofs, roads, parking lots, industrial buildings as an empty roof is a lot less valuable than grassland.

Roofs are even better for solar than cropland. But one thing is clear to me: if you are against solar on cropland but not vehemently against corn ethanol, you are either uninformed or a hypocrit.
