After nearly 80 years, drama on BBC Radio 3 ends tonight. Perhaps the commissioner is as sad as the listeners, having scheduled an elegy as the final play - a work to mourn a loss. I hope at least the #DramaOn3 archive will remain on BBC Sounds #RadioDrama bbc.co.uk/programmes/m00โ€ฆ

Just because the battle to keep #DramaOn3 has been lost, it doesn't mean we should stop fighting for #AudioDrama on the #BBC. It's been heavily cut over recent years - don't let anything more go! #SADatTheBBC The Writers' Guild Equity The Society of Authors change.org/p/save-audio-dโ€ฆ

Drama has been part of the Third Programme/Radio 3 since the first week in September 1946 and it has had a place on Sunday night's for decades. Until tonight.

While listening to the last Drama on 3 letโ€™s thank all the brilliant people who over the years have brought things to our ears that have enriched our lives - the writers, the producers, inside the BBC and without. Hereโ€™s to you and thank you.

Good luck, Julie! Have fun! I mainly spoke to Julie 'down the line' when she was doing the weather on BBC Suffolk. Always a delight. Such a lovely lady. The farewell report tonight included her BBC Children in Need performance at Spa Pavilion which I helped stage manage. She was magic โœจ

If you're wondering what to fill your Sunday evenings with now that #DramaOn3 is no more, then take heart from the fact that - at the moment, at least - a back catalogue of more than 100 plays is still available: bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00โ€ฆ #RadioDrama #AudioDrama BBC Radio 3
