George King, one of Durham (NC)'s 1st Black firefighters, has died at 88. He started in 1958 & faced immense discrimination — but didn’t let it discourage him from serving his community! He rose to become the city’s fire marshal & assistant chief. Rest In Power, King! 🙏🏿
