Continuing our exploration of wetland moths ahead of #MothNight , Double Lobed has increased its GB distribution by 59% since 1980. Found in marshes, riverbanks etc. where its caterpillars feed on Reed Canary-grass & Reed Sweet-grass. Also in gardens with Pampas-grass! 📷K.Tailby

Micro-moth glitz ’n’ glamour✨- Brown China-mark (Elophila nymphaeata) found during the day today, next to a small pond. Its caterpillars are aquatic, feeding on pondweeds etc. These beauties will still be on the wing for #MothNight 8-10 July.
Two weeks today, #MothNight 2021 will be well underway, with the focus on reedbeds & wetlands. If you’re visiting bogs or damp moorland in Scotland & N Eng, you might be lucky enough to see Manchester Treble-bar, which can be spotted by day as well as at night.(📷Patrick Clement)
