A new “Find My Device” on the Moon?… Well, sort of.

For the first time at the Moon, a laser beam was transmitted and reflected between a NASA orbiting spacecraft and an Oreo-sized device on ISRO’s Moon lander, Vikram, on the lunar surface: go.nasa.gov/3u3fawC

In the light of recent events, I feel this needs to be shared again.

The king Raja Sawai Jai Singh II who laid out the first map of the in Ayodhya was the same astronomer that went on to build four Jantar Mantars across Northern India.

Another day, another reminder that any 'update' you see floating around here about Chandrayaan-3's lunar night survival carries just about as much believability...🤏🏼

Wait for the official confirmation from ISRO! (instead of hearing and amplifying word of mouth)

Chandrayaan-3 Mission:
The rover was rotated in search of a safe route. The rotation was captured by a Lander Imager Camera.

It feels as though a child is playfully frolicking in the yards of Chandamama, while the mother watches affectionately.
Isn't it?🙂

Here's a slightly old animation I made earlier to show how was inserted into the lunar orbit, shortly after it entered Moon's sphere of influence.

Unlike Chandrayaan-2, this time the probe was captured from below the Moon. Also, notice the size of orbits wrt Moon.
