This is a voicemail from my mother that she sent me in January. In between her cries and broken voice she says these words. She starts saying “I won’t say much”, because if messages are past 30 sec, it will be impossible to send. Inspired by Yoni Girmai 1/3

Trauma isn't what happens to you. It's what happens INSIDE you when you lack the resources to cope. Conventional wisdom about trauma is dangerously incomplete. Here’s what no one tells you about trauma—and how to heal from it: 🧵

Eritrean soldiers debilitated Mariam Shewito, they gang-raped women and children for days, mutilated, and murdered them. Those who were murdered were not granted burial while their loved ones watched them decompose. I will never understand such bestiality.

I am always proud of what kokob Gebru keeps on doing, and her responses to the interview are excellent. The discussion gives an insight into mental health, CRSV, and gender equality. Questions from the host are uninformed and uneducated. youtube.com/watch?app=desk…

Working with World Health Organization (WHO) was one of the highlights of my career. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus's unwavering leadership made the WHO very diverse and innovative. His humanity always surpassed any political line.

One of the women I admire, kokob Gebru has published a self-care guide for health professionals and frontline workers in Tigrigna. Such initiatives are very much needed for a community that has gone through a genocide that has disabled the entire health system.
