Alder Hey paeds 'improving skill mix' by replacing SAS and consultant doctors en masse with inferior, cheap replacements they admit are utilised 'at a lower cost'.

These are childrens' lives we are gambling.

Scope is whatever a PA wants to do for their 'professional satisfaction' and career development but when things go wrong it's all the fault of the nearest doctor.

J Watkins et al.

PAs:
1. May not realise the role of meds in patient plan.
2. No prior pharm. knowledge.
3. Matrix/PANE doesn't give enough guidance.
4. 'Prepare' scripts for signing.
5. Students make Tx plans few wks in & no pharm. lectures - self-directed via working in GP.

Many patients will come to serious harm before the PA project is halted.

Playing with our lives to fulfil their Grey's Anatomy fantasy.

Your loved one could be permanently disabled by a stroke or even dead at the hands of an unregulated person acting way above their level.

Government claims to increase number of 'GP appointments' by hiring PAs to sit at a desk in a GP surgery, dressed like a doctor, instead of paying GPs.

Like Ryanair claiming they've tripled the number of 'flights' leaving an airport by filling the runway with branded pigeons.

Imagine thinking an unregulated layperson with an uncredited 2 year crash course is a specialist on a par with a pharmacist or a paramedic.

Despite this shocking example of PAs illegally prescribing controlled drugs, I have yet to see one featured in the newspapers with an indication that the police/GMC are pursuing this.

Meanwhile registrars are struck off for not duplicating PAs' assessments.

PA thinks they can prescribe 'the GP basics' (what are those?) easily and that they've studied at the same level as medical students.

Another disagrees.

Pro-PA-ganda disguised as research.

PAs asked if they want prescribing/imaging requesting 'rights'. Obviously yes.

- Pharmacology teaching = formulary + self-directed learning & prev PAs didn't even do that.
- They want to sit the PSA because doctors do and it's open book.

Lewis raised a great point about the PA tribunal (registrar was struck off for not repeating a PA'S hx and exam).

Tribunal said it would 'not be unusual' for reg to PERSONALLY ADMINISTER abx for meningitis.

UK Dr = medicolegal punch bag whilst others play Dr consequence free.

Locum PAs encouraged to prescribe via the V300 prescribing course.

This is offered by many universities but only registered healthcare professionals can legally prescribe.

We need to FOI universities to see who's letting PA onto these courses...

This chart plays into the PAs' egotistical belief that they're equivalent/superior to resident doctors.

Technically a registrar is also a 'junior doctor'.

But the NHS uses it to alienate and demote SHOs and FY1s in particular.

If you don't re-examine and take a history from a patient a PA has seen, you can get struck off.

Don't train.
Don't supervise.
Don't entertain PAs.

'It would be better to expand medical student numbers. They are higher quality, more versatile employees'

There you go PAs. From the regulator's mouth.

Yep Lord B.

Let's look at the determinants of health from the government's own website.

Sound familiar?

They're all the areas the tory government has underfunded and decimated.

GMC is funded by doctors who are bound to pay fees to legally practice.

Fees are justified by expenses involved in identifying legitimate doctors via register.

GMC spends those fees on admitting unqualified non-doctors to the doctors' register.

Sounds almost.. fraudulent?

Do they hear themselves?

They're generalists who can also work in any specialty without any specialty training.

Unlike doctors. Who are apparently so stupid that they need special training every time they move ward.
