600 Wing ready for a fantastic year!

Thank you so much for coming to teach us! We can’t wait to show you what we have learned!

I loved seeing my visual learners take charge of their groups when they found a math strategy that connected with their way of learning!

We are so lucky to have such thoughtful students like Jack! Today he decided that in the spirit of giving, he wanted to give out $200 class dollars of his own money to every student on our team so that everyone could buy extra items in our class store tomorrow! #masonmoment

During small group time a student asked if he could be the teacher for the next problem. Soon, everyone was begging for a turn. I love seeing students who are proud and confident when they are given the opportunity to demonstrate their learning!

Today we finally got to play the math board games that my students have been working so hard to create! I love that they were able to demonstrate fun and exciting ways to practice the math skills we have learned!

This week we talked about what we believed a scientist looked like, and it was usually someone in a white lab coat with beakers. We then read about Ada and talked about how we are all scientists everyday by questioning things and discovering the world around us. #mistrong

In our January STEAM challenge our 5th graders were challenged to rescue a fellow astronaut from the moon and land them safely on Earth. We worked on budgeting for supplies and discussed which designs created the safest landing!

I saw this idea in @fairchildin5th classroom on Instagram. She has so many good ideas and I loved how inclusive it is. I can’t wait for our students to get to see this message everyday!!

Loving this student’s homemade cape for hero day. She is so creative and helps to remind us that we can be a hero everyday with our actions!

Day 1 playing our math board games! I love seeing how creative my students can be while they are showing off the skills they learned this year.

Presented our projects today on how ecosystems would be affected if an endangered species went extinct. Love seeing how creative my students are!

Today we had fun testing our mayflower boats to see if they could withstand the seas 🌊. Our leading boat held 100 passengers (marbles) before sinking! Love incorporating the design process into our monthly steam challenges.

Such a fun day for this science teacher!! So proud of my hardworking students.

It was a day filled with math conversations! Our thinking task today had us focusing on missing numbers in a standard algorithm multiplication problem. Students loved getting up to work on our vertical surfaces. Danielle Creamer
