I am interested in learning more about using a single point rubric in secondary math. Anyone doing it well? Anyone willing to chat? #mtbos

Impressed with grade 9 enthusiasm to end the week in a #thinkingclassroom. Gave numbers one at a time and a prompt to “make 2 categories of #”. Students first separated into whole or dec, then divided the decimals into groups. Only then did I introduce rational vs irrational #.

There is nothing inherently wrong with single-point rubrics. Our two key points: 1) SPRs are not rubrics; they simply list criteria. 2) A more detailed, descriptive rubric is superior – both as an evaluation tool and a vehicle for providing specific feedback to guide improvement.

Leaving from Carnegie Foundation with energy, hope, inspiration, and more importantly - a connection to a Soror and new friend. Thank you AMShelhamerSeely for the invite. Thank you Tinkhani Ushe White, Ed.D. for the warm welcome.

What do you do when you see Hamish Brewer leaving your event and you are in the mist of presenting? Of course you walk over with your phone in hand and grab a selfie. Thank you for an inspiring morning.

I learned so much about this year's math curriculum at today's admin/chair meeting! Kudos to Artice Appling for always making the meetings informative and engaging, with activities we can take back to try with our department.

Mr. Huber graphed student test scores from different blocks and led a discussion asking for their observations. He also asked what steps he could take to better prepare students who didn’t perform their best. Great conversations! Elko Middle School #ElkoMath
