A BOX OF TREASURES: It was thrilling to go through some of the Scottish Colourist John Duncan Fergusson’s Parisian pre-WWI sketchbooks yesterday, in the collection of Culture Perth & Kinross. Each contained a mini exhibition’s worth of deft drawings in charcoal. Here are some of my faves.

'Beach, Late Afternoon.' (c1955) Robert Greenham’s Suffolk coast seaside paintings recall similar scenes by Vuillard and Monet on the Normandy beaches. The truncated figures at the edges of the painting emphasize the spontaneity of the scene.

A Box of Delight! I've polished up this wonderful 1907 autchrome for you - this vibrant collection of artist's pastels was photographed in colour 117 years ago by Wladimir Schohin. It transcends the centuries. 😍
