While the rest of the nation hunkered down, Louisiana residents evacuated in record numbers over the weekend, according to data from Arrivalist's Daily Travel Index. (bit.ly/38ntPEr). Louisiana's Daily Travel Index reached 57% percent above the same period in 2019.

Surprise, surprise! Labor Day travel activity - which was anticipated to decrease due to fear of the Delta variant - surged past last year's levels, at least in the first 3 days of the holiday weekend. DTI reports 3% more road trips of 50 miles or more.

US 2021 Road Trips are surging ahead in October, reaching 5.7% above 2019 levels. The travel measure even jumped 21% over the same period last year. So much activity during the traditionally slower back-to-school period begs the the question "Is travel caught up? Or surging?
