Racism. You can describe it again and again but someone who hasn’t experienced what it’s like to live in a system rigged against you because of your ethno-cultural/racial background will just never get it. They won’t get how it dehumanises, distresses and kills.

Unfortunately the system that we live in also pushes people to go back to work before they should during/after illness. There's an expectation that if you're not dying, then you show up and plough through it. I see it (and am guilty of it) all the time in teaching.

Every single week for a year I think I have seen the worst image or video to come out of gaza and then every week I witness something even more evil and unimaginable.

I find it so interesting that a lot of the commentary I'm hearing about education in America is similar to what we're experiencing here in England. Is it because we've imported the charter school model or is something else at play? (Genuine question)

I 100% agree with the people citing things like library closures, issues with publishing, school curriculum etc in response to this, but – without wanting to oversimplify – I do think a large part of the answer is phones

I hope people properly understand, it has never been migrants or asylum-seekers making you worse off. It is your landlord, your bank, your supermarket, your energy supplier, and your government. thetimes.com/uk/politics/ar…

Adolescence broke down the multiple ways children are failed by adults & the first thing you guys say is it should be shown in schools. For whomst? And so that what will happen? The issue is not for children to solve. We are the problem. Good grief.

Interesting comment. I wonder if there's a difference between American and British students, or whether this is just pretension, as this is often not the case for the High School students I've taught. This isn't a comment on which subject is harder by the way - that's pointless.
