Dr D Marikar DrLou Pneumomediastinum is well recognised in asthma and can present as surgical emphysema. As you say, treat the asthma. Sensible to exclude other causes (eg oesophageal tears if vomiting) but typically doesn’t recur (unlike 45% recurrence seen with primary spontaneous pneumothorax).
