Times have changed drastically. Looking at my past records makes me miss those times when a full tank of fuel would cost me 208/- ...meaning one litre of fuel was less than 10/-. A trip to and back to Nairobi after the Coast Rally cost 1611/- included fuel, meals, and films.

Standing in the rain, getting wet, walking through the river in the cold of night, caked in mud and dust. Only wish we could turn the clock back.

No rally event would have been without the support of the famous service crews of each of the competitors. It was an aspect of sporting camaraderie that was an integral part of the sport’s soul. I miss those days & nights. Part 7

To cover & photograph each & every KNRC event I logged tens of thousands of kilometers across our beautiful country Kenya.
Every [then] black and white picture had more than a thousand words. Every picture was a news picture.

The stages were long, nights were longer. With a Kenya National Rally Championship event covering more than 500km in less than six hours. The longest were the Sanyo Rally and ‘Coke’ (Coca Cola) Rally, each covering more than 1500km. Part 5

I don't think we will ever see such an impressive collection of drivers and cars ever again.
To get to the “stages”, to watch these immaculate machine men, and women, it was riveting adventure; driving from a town to a town, in the middle of the night in mud,rain and dust. Part 3

The crowd-pullers who in their own home or industrial area work-place backyard built rally cars, like the nostalgic Datsuns,Peugeots, Corollas, & the  ‘Debes’ (pick-ups).
These army of happy-go-lucky sporting souls were entertainer.
