CRDT - Sounds like a cool abstraction on paper, but it’s impractical for a wide range of real-world cases. Scenarios like dis-counters or building a user feed (SoundCloud’s Roshi) become quite tricky compared to using state machine consensus protocols like multi-Raft.

For those who want to see CRDTs used at scale in practice — it’s definitely interesting. That said, if I were making the decision today, I’d avoid this approach and instead go with a scalable NoSQL or distributed SQL database. youtu.be/em9zLzM8O7c
