People often don’t understand that many of their own deeply-held beliefs are the major source of their problems. Yet they are reluctant to let go of those beliefs. They prefer the world would change for them, rather than to change their precious beliefs.

Often there are perfectly sensible actions we can take to avoid being the victim of someone else's bad behaviour. Yet suggesting these actions is sure to attract the criticism of 'blaming the victim.' It is NOT victim blaming. It’s meant to be empowering.
