🎊 Thrilled to share our latest work in Advanced Functional Materials Advanced Portfolio News, led by fantastic PhD student Mark Young. Mark used allyl-sulfide mediated spatial softening of hydrogel substrates to control differentiation in intestinal monolayers: onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.10…

I'm excited to be part of the Rising Stars in Soft and Biological Matter symposium hosted by the UChicago and UCSD MRSECs. Register now to watch the talks tomorrow and Thursday! Perhaps unsurprisingly, I'll be talking about photochemistry in hydrogels. mrsec.uchicago.edu/educational-ou…

Congratulations to group members Kaustav Bera, Bruce Kirkpatrick, and Monica Ohnsorg, Ph.D. for being finalists in this year’s CU Up Close microscopy competition. Monica’s image took 2nd place! We get to enjoy these images in the BioFrontiers calendar and on the walls of our building.

🥳👏 Congratulations to Monica Ohnsorg, Ph.D. and Ella Hushka for their fantastic new article in ACS Publications Accounts of Chemical Research, highlighting some of our group’s contributions to photoresponsive biomaterials! pubs.acs.org/doi/abs/10.102…

Thrilled to share our latest work in ACS Macro Journals, a very fun collab with my (social media-less) dear friend Josh Kamps in Christopher Bowman’s lab. We use DCM as a methylene source to form acetal-linked recyclable polymers and networks, including hugely scalable hydrogels. Link ⬇️!

Last month, the BioFrontiers 💻🦠🧬🧪🧫💉📊📓 Institute threw a fantastic party to celebrate Kristi’s VinFuture Prize—good food, good company, and a well-earned toast to her impact in science!

Check out my talk tomorrow morning at #ACSSpring2025 at 10:40-11:05 in the Marriott Marquis Pacific Ballroom: Section 14. I'll be talking about an exciting multifunctional dithiolane monomer for recycling in additive manufacturing! ACS POLY Division ACS PMSE Division

Congratulations to two all-star lab alumni, Brian Aguado (postdoc) and Cole DeForest (PhD), for their well-deserved awards at last week’s SFBiomaterials meeting! #SFB2025

New research on aortic valve stenosis (AVS) highlights PTEN's role in preventing myofibroblast activation and promoting quiescence in valvular interstitial cells. This could be a potential target for AVS treatment. #AVS Anseth Group Read more: doi.org/10.1002/adbi.2…

Congratulations to graduate student Ben Nelson for his new paper in Polymer Chemistry! Exciting progress on additive manufacturing with lipoic acid.

Well-deserved recognition for PhD student Ben Nelson’s outstanding achievements! Ben is co-advised with Christopher Bowman and studies dithiolane photopolymerizations for dynamic materials.
