While I strongly disagree with Rishi Sunak’s politics and question his mandate, it’s important to recognise the significance of Britain’s first Prime Minister of South Asian heritage. It’s not something our grandparents would ever have imagined when they made the UK home.

I don't care what colour of skin the PM has. I care they run the country properly. The same people who bang on about Britain being racist are the ones highlighting the PM's colour of skin.....

For so many of us with Indian parents, the stories they told us of what life was like for them when they first arrived make today an important moment. Many faced such racism & even those who didn’t were often held back despite being really good at their jobs…

What nonsense. This is not the first instance of political upheaval in the Union's 300+ year history, and it certainly won't be the last. There are some good arguments for the UK ditching the Tories. There are no good arguments for Scotland ditching the rest of the UK.
