With wheat coming off, I hope you’re thinking of cover crops! There are two incentives programs - Rural Water Quality Program and 2023 Grand River Cover Crop Program. DM or call to apply.

It's that time of year again! Winter wheat is coming off and soon cover crops will be going in. UTRCA can help fund your cover crop project. Let us know what you have planned this year!

Here is a great learning event for East Central Ontario that will answer your compaction questions, give you some "lightbulb moments" and lots of opportunity to chat "compaction" with friends, neighbors and new acquaintances.

Looking for some feedback on a ‘can of worms’. When you see the terms: Conventional tillage Reduced tillage No-tillage What types of tillage do you categorize into these umbrellas? Is there a better way to classify (eg STIR from USDA)?

"Does this #covercrop practice improve the good soil microbes?" is a question we have not been able to answer. This work from van der Heijden Lab show which microbes are responsible for suppressing Fusarium root rot. That is a common goal of cover cropping.
