This is a nice scientifically based layperson summary of why it’s normal to feel stressed by the social distancing policies especially for those who live alone.#COVID19 newyorker.com/news/our-colum…

I have started to make a conscious effort to try to smile at everyone I see and/or say hello, the rare times when I’m out( from an appropriate distance). For some people this may be one of the only “live” smiles they get all day.

I enjoyed this article - always important for new parents to have a full sense of the range of “normal” feelings. Especially now. google.com.sg/amp/s/theconve…

Mental Health & Educator Friends. . . I need opinions. I am giving a talk re parenting and brain development & want to discuss how findings may lead to changes in practice/policy/ compassion. Are there problems/situations where you feel such knowledge would be helpful? Thx!

via @NYTimes. I enjoyed this read and agree that there is not a “one size fits all” for many aspects of parenting and child development. nytimes.com/2020/10/21/par…

Reviewers & Editors. If you truly care about improving science give feedback in a way that allows people to “hear” it. Mean and snarky doesn’t achieve that. If nothing else, consider that you could be writing to a student or first time author.

New book. Some chapters focus on child development and education in Singapore while others ( including my BE POSITIVE chapter) focus on more general principles and ideas. link.springer.com/book/10.1007/9…
