I am so honored that The Queerness of Home has received honorable mention for American Studies Association's John Hope Franklin Prize--especially to be in the company of @EricaREdwards2, this year’s winner for The Other Side of Terror, and so many powerful books up for this prize this year.
Grateful to the incredible @k_redburn for this immensely rich and generous review of VICE PATROL--and to UChicago Law School Law Review for making space for both our research on queer visibility and politics. Looking forward to seeing Kate expand these themes in future work!
Congrats to @k_redburn (Columbia Law School) for their review of Prof.Anna Lvovsky’s (Harvard Law School) Vice Patrol in the UChicago Law Review! In the “The Visibility Trap,” Redburn presents a new reading of antitrans policy and trans civil rights struggles through Lvovsky’s queer visibility theory.
So very grateful to Averill Earls for this incredibly generous review of VICE Patrol for Urban History--amplifying the book's core claims about surveillance and queer history, and raising thoughtful questions about how to tell stories about policing across geographic divides.
Here’s my review of Anna Lvovsky’s superb book Vice Patrol in the new issue of the @JournAmHist. academic.oup.com/jah/article-ab…
Big thanks to @CLGBTH for this recognition and Columbia University Press for publishing my book! Wonderful to be in the company of rlc @rcart.bsky.social Anna Lvovsky and the LGBTQIA history community
INCREDIBLY grateful to Law and History Review (Law and History Rev), and especially to Angela Fernandez and Gautham Rao, for convening this wonderful Forum on Vice Patrol--with thought-provoking comments by Dr. Marie-Amélie George, Steven Maynard, and Yvonne Pitts (and a brief response by me)!
Pleased to be a part of this forum on Anna Lvovsky's terrific book.
Great forum in this edition of the Law and History Rev on Anna Lvovsky Vice Patrol which explores the history of policing LGBTQ in the midcentury. A vital history and book given the wave of anti-trans and anti-LGBTQ laws we’re witnessing across the US. #lawandhistory #legalhistory
We highly recommend checking out this timely forum on Anna Lvovsky Vice Patrol in the latest edition of the Law and History Rev

The Michigan Law Review Book Review issue is out, and it’s a banger! I reviewed Anna Lvovsky’s “Vice Patrol”, exploring its lessons for today’s queer spaces. Vice Patrol is a great book for anyone interested in queer history, policing, expertise, and more! repository.law.umich.edu/mlr/vol121/iss…
Very grateful for Ari Ezra Waldman's review of VICE PATROL in Michigan Law Review--not just a deeply generous reflection on the book but (more importantly!) an insightful critique of regulation and surveillance against queer life today.
i wrote for Los Angeles Review of Books about misogynist humor. read it if you like your jokes like you like your women: hysterical! lareviewofbooks.org/article/the-fu…
