At the old people’s home we are hiding in the corridor from a huge rocket attack on #Kharkiv . Tetyana is from #Vovchansk and recently her home was destroyed and her husband killed but she’s not giving up.

Standing in the east of Kharkiv and once again being able to hear artillery fire brings back all the worst memories from 2022. However, the Ukrainian army pushed the russians away then and they will again, if we keep supporting them. Please keep donating to Ukrainian causes.

We don’t need more messages of reassurance to Ukrainians. We need an ultimatum, backed by armed force, to Russians.

The idea that Ukraine must wait until a mass of Russian forces approach and then cross the international border before engaging them is absurd, especially given Ukraine’s asymmetric disadvantages in manpower and materiel relative to Russia.

Beans on toast is what I long for while in Ukraine! (Well, that and my husband, obviously.)

#Kharkiv city update May 11, 2024.
No major events here except persistent Russian psyops trying to scare people away from the city. Psyops seem to affect outsiders more than locals. There is no exodus visible at all.

With news out of Kharkiv and feeling helpless, been putting in extra hours camo net making between shifts at hospital. What strikes me, compared to the other mob, is how we all come together here, from all over the world to fight the good fight. Young, old, Ukrainian babusias,

I am still in #Kharkiv but leaving Thursday, which I planned to anyway. I don't want to run away from the russians but nor would a foreigner with no military/medical skill be useful in a crisis. Though that crisis hopefully won't come. As the Ukrainians say: believe in the army!

This is important, but I think some ppl are misunderstanding it. The danger is the ongoing bombardment of #Kharkiv . Russia doesn't have enough troops to actually overrun the city (I'm there rn). Obviously that could change but it would take a lot of highly visible troop movement.

Even though I'm currently in #Ukraine , I'm still using Tim White 's daily thread as my main news source. He distills what's important and presents it simply and clearly.

As a British person it is difficult for me to entirely accept the #Ukrainian love of #BorisJohnson ... but here we are. ( #Kharkiv )

In Zaporizhzhia city, locals build bombs in their living rooms. My friends have a 3D printer and they make casings for explosives that will be dropped by drones at the front line. Here’s one of them trimming the pieces prior to fitting them together.
