On this day in 1893, Lillian Gish was born in Springfield, OH. In 1988, I wrote to her asking if they had scripts and dialogue to memorize in silent films, or if the director just gave them a sense of what was being said. This was her astonishingly informative reply. Classy lady.

“Do No Harm” is a worthy and noble ethos. As long as there’s understanding that A LOT of harm can be done by not doing anything.

Just had a truly British interaction. Was locking up my nan bike when an old geezer with a Cockney accent said “nobody’s gonna nick that, darlin’” then, with perfect comedy timing, a passing crackhead said “I fucking would!” We all laughed in a moment of genuine shared joy.

Bat got in the house. Me to daughter, with great enthusiasm: “SEE HOW IT’S FLYING IN CIRCLES?? IT’S ORIENTING ITSELF AND TRYING TO FIND A WAY OUT!” Daughter: [screaming]

In the playground this morning, a pram surrounded by a cluster of small girls, whilst the baby's mother advised them "Don't poke; just stroke." A useful adage for the handling of all sorts of small creatures, no doubt.

The guy who said he was gonna j*rk it to my profile photo despite my huge nose had his account suspended. Well there goes the love of my life :(
