It's an American pastime to make fun of college students for being coddled or spoiled etc. But putting your future on the line for the sake of your fellow students in support of one of the greatest causes of liberation today is genuinely courageous stuff

Looking at this from a 'micro' community level, our student GP stopped sicknotes. It discouraged people from getting diagnosis while leading to lots of disclosures of ill health to non-medical people, 'carrying on' while contagious, and increased anxiety about becoming sick.

University presidents will always call cops on students, no matter how much they profess to support social justice. We saw it after George Floyd & we'll continue seeing it with Palestine.

And, students keep on resisting. They give me such hope.

I'm in awe of students at the Gaza Solidarity Encampment at Columbia, who've won complete uni financial transparency regarding investments, & who are dauntless in fighting for the rest of their demands.

Protest works. Activism works. That's why state govs are suppressing it.
