24 hours ago I thought there's no way the snow will lie as the farm has never been so wet....at least we finally got some nitrogen on and it's free 😂

At least the cows are milking well and we only have 4 cows left to calf and it's still September. That's all that is positive at the moment 😂

Calving 2024 done and dusted! Last cow calved overnight 56 days after our planned start of calving and 28 days before mating begins.

Beef calves in today for their eid, 7 needed dehorned and bull calves made into steers. 2 dry days in a row before we get absolutely destroyed yet again by another massive rainstorm.

Had a fantastic night at the Balfour fire brigade last night for a farmers BBQ for the weather we have been dealing with. I absolutely love and am so proud of my daughter and her friends for how they take care of the little ones in our community ❤️

10 weeks of rain and counting...

Over winter our heifer Maybella Highrise Prim had embryo work done on her as part of the LIC Generate programme where she ended up making 14 embryos by 4 different bulls. Today they went into our carryovers and Prim herself was on heat and mated to her contact mating.

First week of mating done. 36.7% submitted in first week. 30.8% if you take the CIDR cows off. Pretty happy with it considering the weather our poor girls have had to indure these last 10 weeks. Fresh snow on the hills this morning!

Dinner with view last night. Still a bit damp even in the rocky stuff but got to get seed in the grass. Looks like tonight will be another dinner in the paddock.
