At long last…. The first episode of Season 2 of thegildedage premiered Sunday night and what a ride!! Beautiful costumes (of course), great characters, and lots of good story lines. Worth the long wait!! Looking forward to Episode 2 next Sunday.

October 31, 1926: #HarryHoudini, the famous magician and psychic debunker, died on Hallowe’en 97 years ago today following surgery for a ruptured appendix at age 52. He is buried in the Machpelah Cemetery in Glendale, Queens, New York.

November 9, 1938: Remembering #Kristallnacht (also known as the “night of broken glass”) when Jewish homes, businesses, synagogues, and even hospitals were destroyed by the SA, the SS, Hitler Youth, and German civilians. Over 7000 Jewish businesses were damaged or destroyed.

November 9,1965: Where were you when the lights went out? A major electrical #blackout affected much of the northeast and parts of Ontario, Canada on this day 58 years ago. Electricity to parts of Brooklyn was restored by 2300 but to other parts of the city by 0700 on 11/10.

A good friend of mine was scheduled to be on JetBlue flight 1802 from FLL to JFK on Aug 6. The flight was supposed to leave at 1240. Long story short, delay after delay, her flight finally left FLL at 0010 and arrived at JFK ~ 0305. She sat in the airport at FLL for 12 hours.

61 years ago today on November 22, 1963, President John F. Kennedy (#JFK) was assassinated in Dallas, Texas. I was only 12 years old at the time but it made a deep impression on me. I made a scrapbook that weekend from newspaper clippings that I still have.
