Aerial Firefighting Training is taking place in SoCal! Pilots who fly Military Airborne Fire Fighting Systems (MAFFS) are conducting training exercises over the Angeles National Forest. Visitors may see low-flying aircraft throughout the week.

Last Saturday, we hosted a fantastic Earth Day event filled with fun & educational activities to promote sustainability & highlight this year's theme “Planet vs. Plastics.” The event featured nature bingo, recycling old t-shirts into reusable bags, & a seed-planting activity.

Last week our staff attended the Vena Elementary School Career Day. They talked with 3rd grade classes about their lives and careers. Engine 13 also made a splash with the students and helped them learn about careers in wildland firefighting.

Crystal Lake Recreation Area will reopen on Friday, April 19. The area was temporarily closed to allow for pine trees to be sprayed with an insecticide to prevent Western pine beetles from infecting nearby healthy trees this spring.
