In those tough times when we have reached out for help from 'services'. I wonder how often people have left feeling like they've had a 1) conversation and been listened to OR 2) been through an interrogation and been judged. 1 way works, 1 way doesn't. It's not complicated

As someone who frequently advocates "with" not "to" or "for", I probably need to think a little more about "by". Is it a bit like "at the end of the project, the local people said "we did that", and they were right?"

Great blog RichB_Mayday This has to resonate with many who work in environments and systems that are forever sticking legs on what should be obviously simple. The legs become barriers. This is difficult, imagine how hard it is for those who are asking for help & trapped within

What this pandemic has shown is that working from home is possible in most sectors. This has been the single biggest barrier for disabled people. Employers should now be more flexible when hiring disabled people as we’ve seen it can work. Our abilities should now be utilised.

I’ve heard councils/social housing providers blame mould on ‘occupant behaviour’ more than once & failed to rebuke. So I’ll be crystal clear about it here: If the housing can’t tolerate drying clothes or closed windows without mould then *the housing* is the problem.

Are institutions primarily hosting clients within their services or are they (the professionals that work in them) guests in the lives of the citizens/communities they serve?

“Hostel tenancy ended because he wouldn’t tidy his room. He wouldn’t cook when told to.” Are these rules equally applicable to the homes of hostel staff? (Some)Teenagers? (Some) Service managers? #doasisaynotasido

Lighter evenings bringing opportunities to spend a bit of time exercising self care at the end of the day (no pun intended). A reminder that after a day walking alongside others talking about self care, to spend a bit of time on my own #keepingspiritsbalanced

What if the barrier here is the hostel style accommodation rather than "people who have complex needs"? Maybe a different solution would have been celebrated #Iwouldalsostruggleinhostelstyleaccommodation
