Happy belated Birthday, President Jimmy Carter!  In partnership with Interior Secretary Cecil D. Andrus, Carter helped protect over 157 million acres through the Alaska National Interest Lands Conservation Act (ANILCA), leaving a lasting legacy for future generations.

The Center extends its condolences to the Carter family and colleagues on the passing of President Jimmy Carter. Carter and Andrus became friends in 1971 while Governors of their respective states and shared a passion for the outdoors, especially fly fishing.

We commemorate the life of George Neumayer, an administrator in ID state government in the 1970s -1990s, who passed away January 8th. George retired from the State of Idaho in 1991 where former Governor Cecil D. Andrus remarked ,“George was one of Idaho’s finest public servants.”
