ā€œMerely having anĀ open mindĀ is nothing. The object ofĀ openingĀ theĀ mind, as ofĀ openingĀ the mouth, is to shut it again on something solid. Otherwise, it could end up like a city sewer, rejecting nothing.ā€

- G.K. Chesterton

The first episode of Mister Rogers we showed the kids was about his fish dying.

Whenever we watch Mister Rogers now, toddler girl asks who is going to die.

There is something special about a congregation singing out ā€œAll Hail the Power of Jesus' Nameā€ with only an organ as accompaniment.

There definitely seems to be sufficient interest in this. At the moment, I am considering early 2025, but stay tuned as plans develops.

In the meantime, if you are interested in medievalism, you would likely appreciate my upcoming course on Beowulf & Boethius.

Would you potentially be interested in a broad course on the Middle Ages that covered philosophy/theology, history, and culture?

I am teaching a handful of online classes this summer, but this is the last day I have to be on campus until the fall.

I am so excited to get started on some
projects once I wrap grading.

C.S. Lewis said that developing an appreciation for Boethiusā€™s Consolation of Philosophy is almost like becoming naturalized in the thought of the Middle Ages.

If this appeals to you (and it should), course #2 is for you.
