We used to build these all over North America, until zoning laws effectively made them illegal. It’s time to bring back missing middle housing.

A mortgage payment doesn't go up for 30 years. My parents still pay $420 a mo on a 200 acre farm + house they bought in 1998. Rent goes up 5%+ per year. Compound that over 30 years and its 4.5x higher. People who argue that renting is better are simply wrong.

Tourism is down about 10 percent this year compared to the last couple of years - which were all time record highs of visitation and spending. This recent softening hardly qualifies as “pain” for local hoteliers.

Making a street appear and feel narrower causes drivers to navigate more cautiously, reducing speed and paying closer attention to potential conflicts. Want to make your streets safer? Try optical narrowing.

Watching the Asheville Planning and Zoning meeting, and I am absolutely aghast at the lack of understanding of “how public meetings work” by one of the commissioners…🤦🏻‍♂️

Realizing that many text spammers are coming from Mainland China, I’ve begun replying with facts about Taiwanese independence. Let’s see how this goes.

In the past year, the two worst customer service experiences I have had were at a South Carolina truck stop McDonald's and Intuit TurboTax. At least I’ll never have to go back to that truck stop.

Seriously one of the worst online products I have used outside of Facebook Events is Intuit TurboTax. I’d rather go to the DMV. They even did basic math wrong and tried to gaslight me about it.

According to the BID proponents, all we've been missing downtown are calls for services from newly funded Ambassadors. The services on the other end of those calls will have to wait some more for funding. #avlgov

My girlfriend just called me to say that the chickens are fine but she picked up a possum by the tail and chunked it into the woods… y’all I think I got a keeper.

I've spent the last 48 hours on the ground in North Carolina with hurricane survivors, rescue workers, volunteers. They've talked about God's will, the power of water, climate change etc. But not *one* person has had anything critical to say about FEMA. Not one.

I've said it for years: nobody understands how the economy works, true, and at the moment there's a lot of money going around. But the job that supplies a good middle-class living doesn't grow on trees. If everyone works but nobody gets ahead, there's permanent dissatisfaction.
