I know at first hand how much Andrew George cares about both local people and local wildlife. I know he volunteers with a local nature recovery project, I know he has fundraised for Cornwall Wildlife Trust 6/12

These are things I know as a constituent. With my professional hat on - Andrew George helped me to set up our Cornwall Badgers vaccination project, securing the first funding which got it off the ground and using his Westminster connections to help me influence policy 7/12

And for his record in parliament - Andrew George was perhaps best known for his fight against the "bedroom tax" (and the "pasty tax"!) 8/12 theguardian.com/society/2014/s…

When Andrew George had the chance to propose a private members bill, he chose the Affordable Homes Bill. When his Conservative successor had the same opportunity, he used it to try to strip Natural England of its powers to designate nature reserves 9/12

The Conservative government has been a disaster for everything I care about: the environment, education, mental health... happily Andrew George is not just a fantastic choice, he's also the tactical vote most likely to unseat the conservative incumbent 10/12

So why not vote Green? Apart from the tactical voting issue, at the Cornwall Wildlife Trust 〓〓 hustings I was shocked to see the Green candidate (who is a farmer) siding with the Conservative in wanting to strip Natural England of its powers to designate SSSIs. So no vote from me 11/12

So I will be voting for Andrew George tomorrow, and hoping that enough others do the same, that I can once again have an MP who stands up for the local community, for local wildlife, and for ethical policymaking. And maybe even a government that does the same 12/12

Pleased to complete “swearing in”, using our Cornish language. It was my privilege to initiate the Cornish language option after securing the official recognition of our language. Another momentous day. A step forward

Wonderful Lafrowda Day today. Undeterred by the occasional shower. Inspirational parade, entertainment and exhibitions. Great to see a good turn out and community spirit. Choughed to be there! #cornwall #cornish #lafrowda #lafrowdafestival #lafrowdaday #StJust #kernow

Today, I’ll lead a Commons debate on the housing emergency in Cornwall & the Isles of Scilly. Over £500m of taxpayers’ money went to holiday homeowners under the Conservatives. We need investment in affordable homes for locals and planning policy based on need, not greed.

This afternoon, fellow Cornish MPs and I will meet with Health Minister Karin Smyth to address Cornwall’s critical health and care issues. We have consulted with local health leaders, and the Department of Health and Social Care is informed about the issues. #NHS #Cornwall

Our values – to combat widening inequality; promote the politics of kindness; determined to save & rebuild NHS & public services; promote social justice & equality; combat the climate emergency. We’d not only let ourselves down, we’d fail our country if we don’t uphold them.

Honoured to lead a Commons debate on housing need in Cornwall and Scilly. Minister Matthew Pennycook agreed local authorities need tools to shape development and stop excessive concentrations of second homes and short-term lets. Good to see all Cornwall's MPs working together.

Darzi Report shows Conservatives’ neglect of our NHS - worst period in its 77yr history. Health Secretary spoke of “a decade of underinvestment” but didn’t specify reinvestment sources. He agreed to meet Liberal Democrats - I stressed need for investment & workforce planning.

I'm shocked by the jobs freeze at RCHT amid the NHS crisis. Almost all staff recruitment is halted for 3 months to tackle a £3.5m deficit. Meeting with the Health Minister & Cornwall’s MPs to address ambulance queues, women’s & children’s unit, mental health, & dental services.
