Today Alex Piquero and I lay out why we must follow facts & best practice, not anecdote. This law will not improve public safety. It will worsen MD's shameful racial disparities and harm Black children. We can and must do better, and it's not too late.

A tragic loss. I was fortunate enough to work closely with Chris on a few bills. He was a great collaborator, smart as hell, and fought hard for good policy outcomes. All of us here in DC are lucky to have had him. Sending lots of love to Team Allen and Council fam.

I rode it the other day while visiting SF. I really don’t think it’s as bad as advertised. Felt safe. Lots of riders. Definitely not the best design but I’m surprised by this ridership dropoff.

So many years and countless survivors’ stories went into these 7 minutes.

I’m so grateful to have been invited, and to the other panelists (including some longtime heroes in this work) who I got to share this with. And to those who tuned in and supported me. It meant so much.

H St is good actually. And there are reasons it will get better.

1) Transit only lanes coming soon.
2) More residents when the next phase of residential projects come online. More people = more business.
3) Should the Council decide to get on board, the Streetcar extension.

Testifying tomorrow USCCR on racial disparities in violent victimization, and the policies, data, funding & other tools needed to address the many injustices surrounding it. Grateful to do this alongside speakers I've long admired and who've inspired me greatly in this work.
