This is one of the reasons why the housing system is broken in Ireland. Deutsche Bank's €800 billion investment arm fund has acquired 85% (46 homes) in Belcamp Manor, Dublin 17 for €24.5 million. Originally intended for individual buyers, these properties are now being

Why do we continue to tolerate dereliction in our villages, towns & cities? When it has so many -ve impacts incl. preventing people having homes This e.g. by Abbey Theatre in Dublin is shocking longterm vandalism Yet the government refuses to stop the speculation #DerelictIreland

We've prioritised tourists over the people who live in Dublin 😭 But it's our city, we have to reclaim it! Go to town, support your local businesses. Make the effort to save our city πŸ™πŸΌ thejournal.ie/readme/busines…

Quite upset yesterday over how we shut down our city for American football. I want to live somewhere that loves all who live there. We have a country that exists as a playground for multinational corporations and American dollars. I wish our city was for people, not power.

Opinion: Dublin needs a tourist hotel tax - not only because of the revenue it could generate to reinvest in the city, but also to ensure there is a public gain outside of the economic data fed to us by the tourist and hotel lobby, writes Darragh Moriarty jrnl.ie/6472263t

"Dublin is a magical place. It’s time for everyone to realise their role in keeping it so. Support local biz over chains, visit the city as much as you can &think of ways to make it better rather than just giving out about it. It is, after all, your city" image.ie/self/weve-holl…

Honestly, the jr ministers on radio this am calling for more hotels cos of price gouging being done for Oasis gigs next yr is so reactionary & short sighted. Renters are being price gouged daily, can we get same level of wide on for the ppl who live here as we do for visitors?

Solidarity to all library staff facing the far-right, who are beginning to target them again. Staff should be protected from harassment and abuse, and Irish society needs to come together to stop the rising hate. We are many, they are few!

Less than 40% of supply coming through is being bought by a home owner in Dublin, investor funds are the main purchasers. Finacialisation of housing leads to high rents, inequality, social division, white label design. And profits. Not homes.

Whilst I cant figure out how *the* bike shelter cost 335k, I've seen so many suggestions of what that money could have been spent on. Investing in a beautiful, quality public realm is worth it & aiming for lowest common design & simply the cheapest option should not be the goal
