thinking about the one phD student I met who’s dissertation was on inuit culture and tried mansplaining to ME about inuit tradition and culture. never go into this work with the mindset that you know more than those who have grew up surrounded by community

Little me would've never imagined that I would be in DC getting an award for my indigenous environmental advocacy. I would've never imagined that me and my father would be standing in front of the same house that has silenced our people for generation. Rez kids can do anything.

This week served as a reminder of why I am dedicated to what I do. Looking into the crowd of hundreds of natives while presenting, I witnessed reflections of myself in every individual I engaged with. when oppressive systems don't give us a seat at the table we must build our own

I love my mentor!!!❤️❤️❤️ I love seeing myself reflected in a space that hasn't had people from similar communities as mine, I will forever look up to Dr. Danielle Ignace.
