The calendar turns to August, and Barb in B2 cashes (oh, the pun) in the first of the month on the 5th with this kokushi. But that only put them in 2nd at the time! It wound up being an even season for them, so much so they were competing for the Saki award.

I'd like to see the distributions of types of yakuman, as shousuushi (or daisuushi for that matter) s/b rare, no? Hold that thought, because on the same day as Barb, Edward in B1, gets this one which helps them stave off relegation to fight another day.

Next day, our 2nd of 3 Summer sanbaimans w/b registered by Harrison in A1. This one is the kan for dora variety. This would allow him to fight for the season title. At least until Brian would run away in Round 6. Also, hold that thought.

Also that same day (6th), Alex in C2 would have to fight through not 1, but 2 riichi's to score this kokushi. With a league leading 10 wins in C2, this would help him secure 1 of 4 double promotions out of C2 that season.

It would be a minute until the 18th to see our next hand, another tsuuiisou by Andre - the 2nd in ARML in Summer. It would be a bright spot in a rough season, as after fighting to stay afloat in A2, he'd suffer a 7 game losing streak resulting in relegation.

Oh looky, another suuankou (dora 3). This one by Mark in B3 on August 26th, rocketing them to a clear 1st place in all last. And this in an even season for them would be just enough to secure the final promotion slot to B2 for the Fall Season!

We'd see our 2nd shousuushi in August as Alex in B2 snipes an unsuspecting shimocha. And yet, this could only move them to 3rd. But compared to where they could have finished, this salvaged the game & allowed him to promote to B1 when all was said and done.

Closing out August was Andrew, who was subbing in B3 at the time with this kokushi, turning the table on its head. Subs are a necessary part of the league - to fill in for players who miss a scheduled time, or who unfortunately withdraw during the season.

The calendar barely turned to September, & on the 2nd we had not 1, not 2, but 3 yakuman (& a sanbaiman in a pear tree~) Song aside, the first yakuman was scored by Brendan in B2 (his 1st) w/a daisangen. Sadly though, he would fall just short of promotion.

As mentioned, substitutes are key to keep the gears of the league running despite other drawbacks. Nevertheless, we celebrate their achievements like anyone else. It just so happened though that super sub Rowen in C2 would get 2 kokushi's in an 8 day span.

Sandwiched between the yakuman on the 2nd was this sanbaiman courtesy of Brian in A1. This chiitoi was supercharged and went from the quickest way to a haneman to a sanbaiman instead. This would be a +115.4 game which rocketed him to the Summer season title.

The last yakuman of September 2nd would be this daisangen by Daniel in B3. While it wouldn't result in a promotion by season end, his final season score of +0.8 would capture the Saki Award (closest to 0) for Summer Season.

Suuankou was the yakuman du jour of the Summer Season and we saw a lot of them at the end. Mohan in B3 would be one of those recipients with this one on the 12th. This helped put them at the top of the league by season's end, & a double promotion to B1.

We would have actually ended the season with 3 straight suuankous, but right after Mohan's suuankou, sub Nathan in B1 while not getting chuuren poutou as seen below, got its equivalent with a kazoe yakuman.

The final 2 suuankou of Summer would be achieved in the final round of the season. First, Bianca on the 16th would fight against 2 hadaka tanki for this yakuman, making a desperate leap out of last. She would be rewarded with a promotion to the top flight.

Last, but not least for the Summer, is this suuankou by Alex in B1 the next day - their 1st yakuman in ARML. This would help them stay in B1 for another season with a chance to promote into the A leagues in the Fall.

There's the Fall 2025 fancy hands to get to, but before that the first 2 games of the 2025 ARML Championship will happen tonight during our normal stream hours! From the semis, all quarterly champions advanced with the exception of Matthew who is making his 3rd straight final.

It was a tale of 2 games as the first was haymakers as 8 of 18 hands valued 7700+, and a final tsumo haneman by Nathanael to just get above water. Game 2 was the minimum 8 hands, but 6 won via tsumo. Matthew takes that game and the lead at halfway.

After a hard fought 4 game set, our 2025 Champion is Arthur McAnally! Versus a table with two 3-time finalists he summits the peak on his first appearance! A well-earned title given that with the exception of 1 season he has stayed in the top flight.
