A parasite found in untreated sewage has been found in tap water.

The sewage problem has grown so bad that it is now entering our drinking water.

The Water Companies need to be fined into bankruptcy and nationalised for free.

What a roaring success the privatisation of water has been. One of the richest countries in the world and we can't swim in our water or even drink it without getting sick? This can't go on. What will it take for this Government to act? news.sky.com/story/warning-…

Wild that there has never been a famous female author. 🙄 Anyway, here's the last chapter of 'Persuasion' in Jane Austen's own handwriting....

The Port of Preston leaflet was printed by Guardian Press in Fishergate, Preston.

Preston Dock was the largest working dock in Britain until 1981. It was a major employer in the town, handling coal exports to Ireland and banana imports from the West Indies. ⛵

Not a great painting but I have a weakness for Rosamonds. John William Waterhouse, English painter (1849-1917) - 'Fair Rosamund'.

Prof Elaine Chalus I despair: already, from my studies of the history of sex ed in Britain, I'd say it's pretty much always been trailing behind the actual contemporary realities - but taking a massive leap backwards is a whole new level of not confronting the situation.

Royal couturier Norman Hartnell was featured in a newspaper article in 1950 about “Three famous men who can’t find the right girl”. Given that the other two were Terence Rattigan and Ivor Novello, I think we know why.
The full article appears in my anthology ‘Some Men in London’.
