Across Missouri today is Edith Cunnane Day and in the City of STL it’s St. Patrick Center day! Today in 1983 Edith approached a group of men outside who told her they had no place to go. Here we are 41 years later and continue to tell folks “you are welcome here” ❤️☘️

On Tuesday morning more people came into our warning center at St. Patrick Center w/ frostbite. By the afternoon our team who is already extending our services, said “let’s go 24/7” and give even more folks a place to sleep safely….within 2 hours they were ready. 👏👏

We will be opening the cooling center today (Friday) again 9a-4p St. Patrick Center. 45-50 people served each day so far and all relieved to have a cool safe space to rest, the heat is brutal for our unhoused friends, if you can we are also in need of water and Gatorade!

Housing is a human right. I signed Board Bill 59 today to create a right to counsel program, protecting St. Louis tenants & getting families facing eviction the legal support they need. In a city where nearly 60% of households are renters, this kind of program is critical. (1/3)
