I feel like my dentist office’s new prodigy- mom stopped scheduling appointments for me 7 years ago and today I walked out cavity free with “some of the best teeth health they’ve seen” 😂😂😂

As we practice social distancing, let’s not distance ourselves from books. They will keep us company and connect us back to people, back to society.

Been homeschooling a 6-year old and 8-year old for one hour and 11 minutes. Teachers deserve to make a billion dollars a year. Or a week.

“Gifted” programs should not exist. They teach children that their intelligence is “innate” and when this inevitably turns out not to be true, it’s debilitating. Every child is capable of learning and every child should be given the support and safety they need to thrive.

While I want nothing more to be back in class with my kids, I appreciate Dr. Susan Enfield making the call to continue distance learning in the Fall. Now, I can start truly start planning for and learning about how to provide the BEST, most equitable instruction and content! #bringit

It’s taken SEVEN years for me to learn this as an educator. I can be selfless and effective while still protecting my time.I’m finally to the point where my weekends are nights are MINE, and as a result the kids are getting a better version of me.

Was getting upset that a student wasn’t showing up to a parent/teach conference. He frantically hops on Zoom almost in tears to tell me his (single) mom has to work late and he didn’t want to disrespect my time. It totally reminded me to not lose sight of my students’ realities.

We are currently living in a bizarre universe where in some districts substitutes are in such a high demand that they are being paid $150-$250 a day… WHICH IS MORE THAN THE TEACHERS MAKE PER DAY IN THAT DISTRICT! PAY YOUR TEACHERS MORE $ AND YOU WON’T NEED AS MANY SUBS!

Being a teacher is like trying to tread water and, instead of throwing you a life preserver, the people on the boat (administration and society) are throwing you things to do WHILE you are treading water.

When those who always wanted to be a teacher finally become a teacher, and then eventually decide to leave teaching because it has become so toxic— the problem is the system.
