Saturday was our Xmas Concert with Leyland Band We were delighted to have the Mayor of Warrington join us & our Patron & dear friend of well over 30 years, Sir Terry Waite KCMG, CBE. Please watch the attached video. More details in the comments below.

Last night we held our annual Christmas Concert at the Parr Hall with guests Leyland Band. We were delighted to have the choirs President Mayor of Warrington, Mo Hussain & were honoured to have our Patron and dear friend of well over 30 years, Sir Terry Waite KCMG, CBE join us.

Leyland Band Mayor of Warrington I want to share with you all a very important message from Sir Terry Waite. Please watch the recording I took from the side of the stage last night. It’s more meaningful to listen to words spoken direct from Sir Terry.

Leyland Band Mayor of Warrington Sir Terry is in daily communication with a man named Robert Pether. Robert is an engineer who is trapped captive. He went out to Iraq to solve a dispute with the company he works for. Instead of resolving the dispute, he was subject to corrupt proceedings.

Leyland Band Mayor of Warrington He was in prison for 4 years, then released, not allowed to leave the country. He’s all alone. He has been made bankrupt. He can’t get out of the country as his passport has been confiscated. His wife has had to sell their home and car in order to send him money to live.

Leyland Band Mayor of Warrington Robert is also in very poor health. His wife is totally distraught. Robert will be totally alone this Christmas. Sir Terry speaks to Robert as often as possible, in order to try and keep his moral up. As at Sunday Robert will have been held captive for 1,746 days.

Leyland Band Mayor of Warrington In just 17 days his time in captivity will have surpassed the most famous person in captivity, Sir Terry, who was incarcerated for 1,763 days! We’re asking supporters of the choir, the band & via the Mayor, the people of Warrington, to please send a message of support to Robert.

Leyland Band Mayor of Warrington It would be lovely for him to hear that many people here are thinking of him & wishing him well at this time. As Secretary of Warrington Choir I have volunteered to coordinate receiving all these emails & will pass them on to Robert via Sir Terry.
