This is not elimination, I know someone who has MPOX right now, and we have HUGE issues with severe MPOX in people with untreated HIV, including people in the hospital in NYC right now. Just because most Rich White Gays are good, doesn't mean the problem is gone.

Certainly we've done GREAT! But this virus will continue to circulate, likely at low levels, and poses serious threats to people already not on HIV treatment or prevention (60% of people in the US with HIV are not virally suppressed). I'm not yet ready for a full victory lap.

Great thread. Very good match to the Boston wastewater data showing sub omicron variants aren’t having HUGE impacts due to a vastly different immune landscape than when Delta and Omicron 1.0 evolved. We are not in 2020 or 2021 anymore.

Unsurprisingly, DOGE cuts are driving the job losses in DC—although every state has lost federal jobs this year, fed job losses are worth 1.13% of DC's total workforce, much higher than any other part of the US Next closest are nearby Maryland at 0.53% and Virginia at 0.27%
