Hillsborough County's first responders need to have functioning roads and thruways to get to you and your loved ones before it is too late. AFT is honored to have the support from HCFF Local 2294 who know investing in our community and fixing our roads will make all of us safer.

Last night, the Riverview Chamber of Commerce voted #YESforTransportation by 55% in their straw poll! We appreciate the support from the Riverview Chamber and look forward to our plan that will bring transportation solutions to Riverview and every other part of Hillsborough.

Voting #YESforTransportation will put computerized traffic lights, additional turn lanes and enhanced street lighting in every part of Hillsborough County. With these necessary transportation enhancements over 1,100 lives would be saved and prevent 140,000 crashes annually.

This morning, we stood at the intersection of U.S. 301 at Big Bend Rd. to show just how dangerous our roads are — this intersection alone saw 332 crashes in the last 16 months. We need safer roads. A Vote YES this Nov will save 1,100 lives and prevent 140,000 crashes annually.

The only losers today are the residents of Hillsborough County who have again had their opportunity to fix our broken transportation system delayed. We will continue to pay the high price of doing nothing and the call for action will only grow louder.

The AFT plan is partly funded by visitors and commuters who use Hillsborough County’s roads, thruways, and transportation infrastructure the most. By voting #YESforTransportation, visitors will pay more than $100 million a year into our community.
