Let me say up front - we need to plant more trees. That said, I’m continually astonished by our need for a silver-bullet solution to our problems. There are many viable tactics to reduce emissions. They should all be integrated and applied where appropriate.

Climate change we're causing today does not stop in 2100. The human-caused CO2 increase will persist for tens of thousands of years, keeping temperatures high, raising sea levels by many meters, releasing methane from permafrost and ocean floor, etc. nature.com/articles/s4155… ($)

Australian Prime Minister Not ScoMo wants children to have more "context and perspective" on climate change to avoid "needless anxiety". smh.com.au/politics/feder… For context, Australia has the highest per capita greenhouse gas emissions of any country with >10M people.

Modern global warming has been ~10x faster than any warming and temperature is now higher than any time in at least the past 20,000 years. Without us, very slow orbital cooling (23,000-year precession cycle) would have continued. More on these data: realclimate.org/index.php/arch…

"Forests are now seemingly losing the ability to absorb pollution which is alarming. What more of a wake-up call do we need?” theguardian.com/environment/20… Simon Lewis and others quoted with authors from @ubcforestry CIFOR among many other institutions

It’s so unfortunate that we undervalue these types of ecosystems. From a biodiversity perspective, they are irreplaceable. Once clear cut, they’re gone.
