Personally I like the position classic sonic is in now then after mania. Because if they choose to make a new one they'll actually have to think outside of the box due to superstars flopping. A mania 2 is safe. A reinvention of 2D sonic ala metroid isn't.

Dare I say, Sega is shit outta luck in the Classic 2D department unless they COMPLETELY break the mold for the next one. Fangames have been encroaching on total dominance of the genre for years

Its funny how we all wanted classic sonic dead just a year ago lol. Now I see some people begging for an actual mania 2. Personally I think 2D sonic in general should be benched until they can find something new and inventive to do. That's just me tho.
