Just seeing the RCT 'scandal' brewing among econs again. This is not a question about some bad apples or some instances of malpractice. The RCT industry has been completely distorted from its inception in Econ and this is closely tied to the incentive structure of the discipline.

VANCE 1, RUBIO 0 It sounds cynical, but a professional political economist must be cynical. The White House showdown was not about Ukraine, and Donald J. Trump was not an actor. It was about Republican nomination in 2028, and President Trump was a battlefield. Vice-president

Israel’s attack on Iran and Iran’s retaliation are already claiming civilian lives. Stop defending one side’s “rights” while ignoring UN Charter violations and the killing of innocent people. The world needs less hypocrisy—and more respect for diplomacy and international law.

🚨 Cool field experiment on #EconTwitter: Fake PhD student bots followed 6,920 users. Follow-back rates revealed clear bias: ▫️ +12% for White vs. Black students ▫️ +21% for top-tier vs. lower-ranked schools ▫️ +25% for women vs. men Racial gap persisted even at elite schools.

Great news! I like this in particular because economic history has decisively left the ghetto -- with the Acemoglu/Robinson/Johnson price last year and this one, it's clearly recognized as an equally valid domain in which to play, not this weird subfield nobody cares about.
