Opinion =divided re Magyar. I’m not thrilled myself.

BUT, if all he does = suck life out of existing HU opposition parties that might not be a bad thing.

They’re dire + they’ve failed. Possibly they need to die so something better can emerge -even if that’s not Magyar.

-If Balog is removed as Diocesan Bishop he can’t be National Synod President.

- Chances of removing him as local Bishop = higher than removing him from Presidency directly.

-The local move is therefore also a national move.

I’m sceptical re Magyar but think Mudde is overlooking something.

IE while Magyar isn’t winning core Fidesz voters en masse waverers who vote for Fidesz at last minute ‘to keep out the left’ may now stay at home. It isn’t as simple as his merely ‘dividing the opposition’.

Well, strikes me that (cumulatively) over the last few days Belgian authrorities have done a great job of undermining the efforts of those of us who’ve spent years drawing attention to the (serious) problems re Freedom of Expression in #Orbán ’s #Hungary .
