Looking forward to my visit at the Innovative Hydraulics and Automation (IHA) research group at Tampere University, Finland for a PhD defense on autonomy for Heavy-Duty Long-Reach manipulators. #robotics #Eindhoven

I have bumped by chance on the book "Be useful" by Arnold while walking at Boekhandel van Piere in Eindhoven, the Netherlands. Love the positivity. And to see confirmed many little lessons I drew from my past experience. Already half through. Great read to recharge for 2024.

I guess we need to fix a few things before using GenAI to make a robot understand our world :) It is, in any case, mesmerizing!

In the robotics section (RBT) of the ME dept of TU Eindhoven, we are scouting for assistant/associate professors in machine learning for manipulation in unstructured man-made environments. If you like the idea of moving to Eindhoven and have the right experience, DM or email me.

When people say locomotion is solved, they mean this is possible. Truly remarkable and beyond natural (animals have no wheels) #robotics

This @ieeetro Special Collection on Impact-Aware Robotics was a great fun to organize! There is still a lot of things to do to get robots at the level of dexterity of human beings but, hey, we are getting there! #Robotics TU Eindhoven

Parallel physics simulation is a key component to further develop robot autonomy in dynamic environments. Still ample space for improving the accuracy in contact forces and velocities. Exciting times.

Cleaning up my office, before the moving. This is from 1996. We are still busy with the same problem after 30 years. And apparently trying with the same approach. Anyway, that is why it is important to read the "old" literature. Do not reinvent the wheel :)

if we would expand the acronym AI as Artificial Intuition, it would be way more accurate and descriptive of what the technology is. People would likely also stop to yell at each other, debating if it is intelligent or not :)
